Love Song
This bad boy has been stuck in my head for the last few days, competing with Cee Lo Green's "Fuck You." An odd combination, I know, but consider the source! ;)
Maybe I've watched a few too many late night infomercials advertising Rock ballads from big hair bands. Ah, those were the days! Lots of great music during the 30 minute schpiel. So much so that I log into the website. $120?!?!? Are you out of your 'brain cells dead from too many drugs in the 70s, 80s and 90s' fricken mind???

why?
A child's favorite question as soon as they are old enough to talk and one that can never be answered well enough that they stop asking. A question that is part of the famous who/what/when/where/how group. Tonight, the question is mine to ponder.
I wastalking texting with a dear friend tonight. I was asking advice for another age old question: How can I drop some pounds safely and quickly? He's a former body builder and he works out a lot, so who better to ask? Our banter ensued and I stated that I had the tools and the brain, I just had to find the motivation. He matter-of-factly stated that I should be my own motivation. I am beautiful and wonderful and I should want to stay that way for my friends and family to enjoy for many years to come. SCREECH!!! While I know this in my head, I don't feel this in my heart. Studies have shown that what we believe about ourselves today is directly related to how we were treated in our first few years of life. Dad made sure the family had what we needed financially and mom made sure we had the physical things: clean clothes, food in our bellies, etc. The one thing we didn't get was emotional encouragement. I don't recall hearing, "I love you," unless I said it first. "You're beautiful," didn't exist, but sometimes I got, "You're so smart," when I brought home a perfect report card. Even then, I think my dad's parents said it, not mine.
It's not even something I can talk to them about now. Dad passed away and I don't speak to my Mom. I guess it's time to turn to a professional. While I don't think I need 'shrunk' too much, I believe it would do me a world of good to speak to someone who is unbiased that can help me attain real progress through exercises they have learned in their practice. Follow it up with a massage, and I should be better in20 years no time!
A big THANK YOU to Matt for reminding me that I am beautiful and wonderful and that I am all the motivation I need! In the grand scheme of life, I know this to be true. It brought a smile to my tear-stained face to hear it.

my new(-ish) home
I'm in my new home...FINALLY! I've been dreaming of this day ever since I moved over to Cherry Creek. That area may be some people's cup o' tea, but it's not mine. I'm downtown now, and I couldn't be happier! Well, one thing getting fixed in my apartment will make me happier...
Let me preface the story by stating that I have a horrific sleep schedule since I work nights. So, I roll out of bed on Monday morning around 4. I'm just schlepping around, minding my own business. The day before, I bought some Pyrex mixing bowls, Rubbermaid storage bowls and other kitchen stuff at Target so I'm stocked up and ready to start bringing my own healthy lunches to work *cough*. Anyway...instead of hand washing everything, I throw the Pyrex lids, Rubbermaid bowls and a cutting board in my dishwasher. I loaded up with the appropriate amount of eco-friendly detergent and locked it up. It started gurgling away, nothing sounds out of the ordinary. A minute or two later, I turn to the kitchen to see that my sink is spewing nasty water from where the sprayer would be if I had one. Given the history of water incidences I've been having in my apartments, my first thought goes to, "What the FUCK?!?!?!?!?!" I turned off the d/w and unloaded it. I left a message on the office voicemail (no active flooding = no emergency maintenance) and patiently wait for a return call. Fast forward 8 hours; 5 hours after the leasing office opens. I haven't heard from anyone, so I give a call back. Blah, blah, blah...really busy day, will send maintenance over right away. I wait another 3 hours (office closes at 5) and nothing.
I stated my case for working Wednesday-Friday night; I requested no one enter my apartment while I'm sleeping. I guess it won't get fixed until next week (no weekend hours). Yes, it would get fixed faster, but the thought of someone I don't know being in my apartment while I'm trying to sleep skeeves me out, not to mention that the repair job would not be a quiet one!
*SIGH* I hope this is not a precursor of things to come in my new home...

I had to post the pics before I would have liked to *cough* because I was being bullied by an unnamed *cough* yellow person. :\
