...and...and...

I'm moving on Friday and am so excited, I could literally jump out of my skin!!!  This apartment has been nothing short of nightmarish and I'll be glad to see it in the rearview mirror.  I work Monday-Wednesday, so this week is going to fly by.  I have most of my packing done.  I'll round up more odds and ends tonight, not including clothes.  I don't want to use up a bunch of boxes for my clothes, so I think I might just throw them in my brother's car on their hangers and transport them that way.  I didn't have many boxes, but I already knew I wouldn't.  I've also pawned off more stuff on my bro; less for me to move.  He had told me last week that I didn't have to help him move since he has so many people from work enlisted.  Unfortunately, he didn't remember that tidbit last night when he asked me to hold the glass shelves from his hutch during their transport.  We chatted about our previous convo, but it's all still up in the air.  I would rather not run back and forth to Lakewood (30-45 minutes from here) and bust my ass moving all his heavy furniture and boxes.  I pack light for a reason!  I'll let you know how it pans out.

Stinkin' Squealers are in the Superbowl this year against the Packers.  GO PACKERS!!!!!!!!

I still have to change my address on all my accounts.  I'll end up doing that tonight in between packing and procrastinating.  And I have to order new checks.  And I have to change my driver's license.  Yeah, I still have lots to do, but it's mostly 'paperwork' that I can do online.

I'm still looking for a leather chair and ottoman for my loft.  I've been looking on Craigslist, as well as American Furniture Warehouse, Target and Overstock.  I think my best bet will be Craigslist as far as the price as long as it's close to the city and they might deliver.  I believe I'll also need a baker's rack for the kitchen.  There isn't a lot of counter space and I don't want to clutter it up if I can avoid it.  My toaster, coffeemaker and a microwave will dominate most of that space.

My brain is on overload from all the ideas I have for MY new space.  I can decorate in any way I please because it's MINE...all MINE!!!  I have jewel tones on my mind.

That's the latest news from the Shithole on the corner of Cherry Creek Drive South and South Cherry Street AKA Crescent at Cherry Creek.  Should have been named Gotcha up Shit Creek (without a paddle)!

Police search for Moron

Yes, actual headline on our local 9News website: http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=176816&catid=339
~They'll sure have their hands full because there are plenty of morons out there!

~I don't think the new jail is big enough to house them all.

~I hope they don't plan to pay OT because the city is already in debt.

OK, I'm done. :D

*woosh*

The title is meant to replicate the sound of a giant exhale of relief!  I have been approved for the loft I saw last Friday and am scheduled to move in next Friday.  I've already had the moving truck booked for a few days; maybe I just knew subconsciously that it was my new home?!  Then, I realized that I was scheduled to work the three nights before my move, which is also the night of my brother's Employee Appreciation party at the museum that I am attending.  Luckily, my buddy Frances traded me Monday for Thursday and all is well in the world again!

The management company at the hole I now live in were supposed to come over today and do a walk-through.  I'm not sure what they wanted to see, but those sonsabitches never showed up!  I worked last night and got up early so I'd be showered and dressed before they got here.  WTF is wrong with people?!?!?!?  That's not the only time they've been rude, but I'm OVER it and they will get a piece of my mind.  I know, I know...I can't spare much, but that's not the point here!  ;-o

I got my review at work today.  Instead of getting fired, I got my puny 2% raise, effective within the next month.  We (clerical support) also received a 2.5% increase because, as an ED clerk, our wages paled in comparison to other ED clerks in the tri-county area.  So, a 4.5% increase within the next 30 days.  I'll take it over a kick in the pants any day!  Especially since I'm now paying more rent than I had intended.  It'll all be worth it when I can sit in my loft and tap away at my keyboard while creating the blog post that will get me recognized as a world-class smart ass Carrie Bradshaw wannabe!

Homeless No More!!!

It feels like I have been looking for months years for a new place to call home.  The lease is up on February 5th and as of this morning, I still didn't have a place to go.  Early this afternoon, I received a reply about a downtown loft I found on Craigslist.  I've been playing e-mail/telephone tag with a bazillion people looking for a great apartment in the city.  I've also been scooped on a few places, so I tend to fly into action quickly now to keep me from having to tape some boxes together and sleep on Broadway and Colfax!  I gave Christa a call and hightailed it downtown.  The loft is amazing!  There is so much space and I felt at ease in the building.  I've wanted to live in downtown Denver since I arrived about three years ago.  I always told myself that it would be too expensive and any ad I had seen with a downtown address didn't disprove my theory...until today!

I filled out the catalog-length application, paid $40 to process that bad boy and left another "triple-H" for a deposit.  I have 48 business hours to change my mind and get that scratch back.  I've also made plans to see two more places I had contacted before I semi-committed to this one.  One appointment Sunday morning after work, one Sunday night.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  One way or another, I'll have a brand new address in two short weeks!!!

First post of 2011

So, here we are, seven days into the new year.  I have two appointments tomorrow to view apartments, and a call in on a third.  All are located close to work, which makes me happy.  I'll be able to walk back and forth again, rather than waiting for the bus AKA the germ tube.

Speaking of germs, I caught the crud.  I work in a hospital and I expect to get a cold once a year.  Lots of people cough and sneeze without covering their faces.  Since working there, I've noticed that a lot of nurses and doctors do the same damned thing!  WTF people?!?!?  You all know better!!!  I started feeling really bad Wednesday night at work and let them know I wouldn't be in on Thursday.  I slept, bought and ate vitamins, and tried to keep the fluids flowing.  All in all, I'm feeling better, but not back to 100%.

I saw the KettleWorx infomercial and am intrigued.  I think I'll order it when I get into my new place and give it a go.  I've poked around the 'net to see if I could find reviews, and it seems that people who have used it have liked it.  Right now, my obliques are getting a workout from coughing!

I guess that's all for now.  Even though I really haven't felt like eating, I'm drooling over the garlic parmesan buffalo wings that are being made on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network.
